Crowlin / Company AI or ChatGPT?

Company AI or ChatGPT?

Both have their place. A public chatbot is great for general writing and ideas. For answers from your contracts, procedures and systems you need something else. Here is a fair comparison.

The comparison at a glance.

We compare types of solutions, not specific plans. Cloud service terms change, so always check them with the provider.

When to use which.

Many companies use both: public AI for general tasks and their own for internal knowledge.

When a public chatbot is enough

General writing, translation, ideas and summaries of public information — as long as nobody pastes in contracts, prices, personal data or internal procedures.

When Crowlin makes sense

People need answers from your documents and systems, different people may see different things, you need to know where an answer came from, and data must stay in the EU or on your premises.

Common questions about the comparison

Is this ChatGPT with a different logo?
No. Crowlin uses an open language model running directly on the server. To answer from your documents it doesn’t connect anywhere and sends the documents nowhere. Search, permissions, citations and audit are our own layer on top of it.
Is a self-hosted model as smart as the biggest ones?
Not for general philosophising. For answers from your documents, accuracy depends mostly on the quality of search and permissions — and that we measure. Where the data allows, Crowlin can use a cloud model for selected tasks; the decision is always yours and applies to a specific type of data.
Can we use Crowlin and ChatGPT at the same time?
Yes. Crowlin can even use a cloud model for selected tasks where the data allows it. The decision is always yours and applies to a specific type of data.
Why not simply ban public AI for employees?
A ban protects data, but people keep wasting time searching and some will use AI anyway. Your own company AI gives them a safe alternative.

We’ll show you on your own data.

We’ll show you Crowlin on a sample of your documents in an isolated space. We delete the data after the demo on request. The demo is non-binding.

How the first demo works

  1. Intro call, 30 minutes. What people in your company ask about and which documents hold the answers.
  2. Demo on your documents, about an hour. Online or on site. You send a sample; Crowlin answers from it live.
  3. Pilot proposal. Scope, success criteria, timeline and a fixed price. You decide only then.
